Questions About Tariffs
STATEMENT ON EXEMPTION OF CANADIAN STEEL PRODUCTS FROM APRIL 2ND TARIFF ANNOUNCED BY THE USA
On April 2, 2025, a new series of tariffs on imported goods were implemented by the United States, including a baseline 10% tariff on all imports for more than 60 countries, including Canada. However, under the new tariff structure, goods from Canada that comply with USMCA rules of origin, including all steel, zinc and electropolished products shipping from Larsen & Shaw to our US customers under tariff code 8302.10, will remain exempt from tariffs now and in the foreseeable future.
With that said, aluminum products will continue to be tariffed at an additional 25%, per the March 12th announcement by President Trump. As previously communicated, we will continue to work with all our valued customers to ensure that we minimize the overall business impacts of these aluminium tariffs.
Larsen & Shaw, now in it's 106th continuous year of business, remains committed to both the North American Market and the customers we proudly serve.
